'Feline Groovy' Cat Nip

Fresh locally grown organic cat nip.

All The Cats has 5g pouches of fresh catnip available for purchase when booking our cat sitting and vet taxi services.

Storage: Feline Groovy cat nip will remain fresh for at least two weeks if refrigerated.

Directions for use: Rub it on scratching boards and posts and watch your cat enjoy its effects.

Because cats can get very ‘involved’ in the sensations cat nip produces, it’s a good idea not to engage your pet as they may get feisty when interrupted. If you have a multi-cat household, we recommend you introduce cat nip to each cat individually as possessive behavior can ensue.

Please note - about one third of adult cats are not affected by the plant and kittens under six months will not react to its properties.

What is cat nip?

Cat nip is a perennial herb belonging to the mint family Nepeta cataria. This herb contains a chemical called nepetalactone which triggers the amazing emotional response many cats have when they encounter catnip. See more on Wikipedia here

Common behaviors cats display when they smell bruised leaves of catnip are rubbing on the plant, rolling on the ground, pawing at it, licking and chewing it. The main response period after exposure is generally between 5 and 15 minutes. Despite its drug-like effect, catnip is neither addictive nor harmful for cats.

Sniffing the cat nip plant usually produces a stimulant effect, while ingesting catnip has a sedative effect.

Cat nip can also be used to relax your cat if they are prone to stress or if a stressful change has recently occurred in the house hold. My cat Millie was so upset at the new arrival of our kitten Winkie, she refused to come inside even though it was winter. We had to put food outside for months because she wouldn’t come in to eat. The only times she would come in the house was when we rubbed fresh catnip on a scratching pad – this is now where she sleeps :)

What our Happy Clients have to say

Extremely happy with Janelle... She was available at short notice and went out of her way to organise meeting with me before her first visit to my two cats. Would happily recommend and will be rebooking soon!
